It's no 'Soul Of A Man'
By Ian Brunyee from Yorks, England , 13 May 2005[Highly rated reviewer]
I rented this having seen and loved some of the other films in Martin Scorsese's 'The Blues' series. Unlike most of the others that are either Documentaries or Docudramas, this is a fictional tale of a young kid being taught about the blues by his uncle. These sections are intersperesed with footage of Mississippi John Hurt & Son House amongst others. These bits are awesome and what you'd watch it for, but at the end of the day this footage counts for 40% of the film, the rest being the frankly dull fictional parts and can be viewed seperatly in the special features.- Was this review helpful to you?
