Most helpful review
Classic Kung Fu Fron Hong Kong Legends.
By drunkenmaster (479 reviews) from Merthyr Tydfil, , 28 Jun 2005[Highly rated reviewer]
Thank goodness for Hong Kong Legends.
I cannot praise this DVD distributor enough.
Another first class release from them. One of Sammo Hung's best directorial efforts. Plenty of Wing Chun style fighting and some slapstick comedy thrown in for good measure.
If you like the more traditional style of Kung Fu action this is definately one that I can recommend... as long as you can forgive the oddness of some of the fighting techniques.
Sammo Hung is without doubt one of the greatest action choreographers and fighters of all time. This film has fine support, with Casanova Wong, one of the most underrated in this genre putting in a fantastic physical performance.- Was this review helpful to you?

(13)Best Kung Fu Film Ever Made
By victoryfist (2 reviews) from Hertfordshire UK , 03 Mar 2009This film is old school kung fu at its highest quality. Far superior to any others in terms of production, acting, story and kung fu.
It is an interesting nicely paced story with likeable characters. It has some comedy in the right places but also has a serious message and of course its got amazing kung fu.
It shows the real techniques of Wing Chun versus other (sometimes crazy) styles. It also shows another famous real kung fu style called the preying mantis.
Warriors two and prodigal son are the best kung fu movies ever made.
Dont listen to anyone who says this film is crap. its top quality for real fans of proper kung fu.- Was this review helpful to you?

An Old Classic
By king69 (6 reviews) from West Croydon , 05 Oct 2007This film has all the ingredients of the 'old classics' not made anymore. Theres plenty of great moves and fights to entertain.
The special featuers really explain and expel some myths surrounding Wing Chun and what it ment to the actors in this film.- Was this review helpful to you?

Classic
By Paulie from London , 27 Mar 2007The opening scene of this film is pure class not often Wing Chun is the main style in a martial arts film. This is Sammo at his best, class fighting, slapstick comedy with silly voices thrown in for good measure. This film has some breathtaking fighting, the Mantis vs Wing Chun finale is one of the best of the genre. If you don't take this film too seriously & just watch it for what it is, cheap budget, poor effects, minimal plot (master I will avenge you) etc you will love it. If you are expecting something beautifully shot with a cast of thousands fast forward 20 years.- Was this review helpful to you?
