Good story....but...
By a customer from Beddington , 22 May 2011[Highly rated reviewer]
I found the cruelty scenes involving the elephant hard to watch.Of course I know no animals were hurt in the making of this film, but watching such graphic scenes of animal cruelty is not something I am used it and it left me unsettled. Chemistry between Rpatz and Reece not very convincing but the story was strong enough to deliver a good film.- Was this review helpful to you?

Christoph Waltz is exceptional as the nasty abusive husband
By twosoddingcats (209 reviews) from Kingston-upon-Thames , 15 Apr 2013Great film about the Benzini Brothers circus which Christoph Waltz takes over with his wife Reece Witherspoon (although not sure how accurate about the Benzini Bros circus in general). Christoph Waltz rules his circus with an iron fist. If performers dont pull in the punters, he gets his goons to throw them off the train. If animals dont perform, he beats them. His wife was found wrapped in newspaper on a train and, after several foster homes, married Waltz for some form of stability although his violent rages frighten her. Robert Pattinson is due to take his final exam at Cornell to become a vet when the exam is interrupted to tell him his Polish immigrant parents died in a car crash. The family loose their home they re-mortgaged in the depression to pay his Cornell Uni fees with nothing left, he jumps a train and lands into the Benzini Bros circus train. Soon he becomes the circus vet and Waltz buys Rosie the elephant to bring in the customers. Rosie wont perform until Pattinson realises she understands Polish and follows his commands .A very entertaining film and the threads of the story are tied up nicely in the end.- Was this review helpful to you?
