A damp squib. Unfunny, Dated British colonial comedy

WATER is a dreadful movie. I only watched it because BILLY CONNOLLY was in it. It has a great cast which are squandered on unfunny, dated material. MICHAEL CAINE, BILLY CONNOLLY and the late LEONARD ROSSITER all try the best they can with very underwritten roles. Not funny, not satirical, not clever - this film was directed by Dick Clement and Ian LeFrenais when it should've been made by Bill Forsyth ('Gregory's Girl) in my opinion. Dull as ditch water

Classic British Humour

The sort of tongue in cheek, irreverent humour only the independent UK film industry can make. Great British Film
