WATER is a dreadful movie. I only watched it because BILLY CONNOLLY was in it. It has a great cast which are squandered on unfunny, dated material. MICHAEL CAINE, BILLY CONNOLLY and the late LEONARD ROSSITER all try the best they can with very underwritten roles. Not funny, not satirical, not clever - this film was directed by Dick Clement and Ian LeFrenais when it should've been made by Bill Forsyth ('Gregory's Girl) in my opinion. A wasted opportunity.

In my opinion this is one of the most under-rated comedies of the 80s, it is a comedic masterpiece with a great cast. It is a must see! A comedy that you don't really have to think about, just laugh and enjoy!

  • Classic British Humour

Hasn't dated in the 20 years since I first watched it! The sort of tongue in cheek, irreverent humour only the independent UK film industry can make. If you like the Pythons, Not the Nine O'Clock News etc, this one's for you.
