Mel Gibson's Cockney accent in new movie The Beaver was so convincing for early audiences they thought Jodie Foster had hired Londoner Michael Caine to dub his voice. Director Foster tried to convince her leading man that his accent didn't have to be perfect for his role as a puppeteer in the movie - but Gibson insisted on getting it 100 per cent right.
