This was much better than I expected. It's not too advanced for a beginner to appreciate but also doesn't bore the intermediate artist.
The film is obviously pretty old and the 80s hair do on one lady is really funny. However the technical information is good. This was about teaching rather than the artist showing off which I find many films in a supposedly educational format tend to be.
There is a section about painting flowers (although not specific ones) which includes info on 'wet on wet' and 'wet on dry' technique and colour use.
Also a section about buildings including some teaching on how to achieve correct perspective which was really interesting. And also an unexpected section on painting horses. Although the info was quite subject specific it could be pretty easily transferred onto any subject and the stuff about colour mixing was very good. I'm a self taught prof/amateur artist and have been painting for several years including commissioned work, and I picked up alot from this video.- Was this review helpful to you?
