From the brilliant novel to excellence on screen. Irons and Hawke share a mild comntempt for each other but bond as the slighty stiff uper lipped teacher lets his guard down to slighty to share his sadness and regrets of the past- a past which reveals many mysteries and tells tales of lost love, teenage pregnancy and family secrets revealed. Brilliant performances from three main leads. A film never to be overlooked, i have searched for ages for this. If you are reading the book-you will revel in the delights of the film.
