LOVEFiLM Review Welcome to the Rileys

  • 2.5 stars out of 5

    By Tom Charity from LOVEFiLM

James Gandolfini, Melissa Leo and Kirsten Stewart hammer out some home truths in this contrived but well-meaning emotional drama.

Kristen Stewart is the star of this movie without a shadow of a doubt, her on screen chemistry with Gandolfini is electric and the acting is superb. The way she plays Mallory is oscar worthy, and her supporting actors are just as good, this film is possibly my favourite film of the year even though it isn't a huge blockbuster, I feel the actors are so good BECAUSE it is a low budget picture and is beautifully directed by Jake Scott. I would recommed this film highly

Excellent acting and with an unusual story-line which holds your interest throughout. Well worth watching as it is very enjoyable.

I must say first off this movie isn't too bad. The acting from the main three cast members is amazing. They worked really well together and you could feel the emotions coming through on screen. The only problem with this film is the story line. Dont get me wrong in theory it is brilliant but whoever wrote the script did a rubbish job. I kept waiting and waiting for things to progress and it never did. There was so much more that could have happened but it didn't. Disapointed!

  • A film about paralyzing grief…..

    Rated - 2.5 stars
    By twosoddingcats (212 reviews) from Kingston-upon-Thames , 07 Aug 2012
The parents of a 15 year old year who was killed in a car accident deal with their grief in different ways. The father seeks solace with a waitress lover and then with a runaway hooker (platonically, as a guardian figure)…..the mother is literally unable to leave the house, even to get the newspaper. This isn’t a barrel of laughs but it shows how people can overcome their grief….and what happens when one person blames the other for the death of their child. Strong performances from Kristen Stewart and James Gandolfini.

I thought this was an interesting film, really enjoyed the story and felt for the characters but has a disappointing and rushed ending.

Very bad the actors in this film deserve a better storey line surely, come on give them some credit. This film shows these actors up and when you have a good track record I would be gutted
