Manchester, North of England, 1975. The now much diminished, but still claustrophobic and dysfunctional, Khan family continues to struggle for survival. Sajid, the youngest Khan, the runt of the litter, is deep in pubescent crisis under heavy assault both from his father's tyrannical insistence on Pakistani tradition, and from the fierce bullies in the schoolyard. So, in a last, desperate attempt to 'sort him out', his father decides to pack him off to Mrs Khan No. 1 and family in the Punjab, the wife and daughters he had abandoned 35 years earlier. It is not long before Ella Khan (Mrs Khan No. 2) with a small entourage from Salford, England, swiftly follows to sort out the mess, past and present. West Is West is the sequel to the internationally acclaimed and successful film East Is East.

This film is absolutely brilliant and an amazing film where it shows that racism should not be accepted in any part of the country.I would highly recommend this film as it is hilarious and very very good.

Very enjoyable!

On an emotional level i really enjoyed this film. A film that showed the difficulties and consequences of choices we make as human beings. The difficulties faced by alternative lifestyles. Very well acted, humourous in places but thought provoking also. Magic!!

NOT AS GOOD AS EAST IS EAST

This is all very dated and not nearly as funny as the first one. The scenes in india were interesting and there were one or two funn lines but mostly it was stereotypical. I did not watch it too the end - life is too short for watching mundane movies.

This film is quite charming. Brilliant acting from all concerned. Unusual story - thought provoking and very warm. Loved it!

Not as funny as east is east. Will not be recomending this film. Going back to see Mrs Khan no 1. Mr Khan was having his cake and eating it on both sides of the world. I was not surprised that there was resentment within the family.

Very different to East is East

Dont watch it with East is East in mind....you will be dissapointed with the lack of jokes. However as itself, still a very nice film.
