Gripping television. I had been a little disappointed with Season 6 as it moved away from the focus of the President and people had drifted away in different directions. There's still less screen time for Martin Sheen, but the whole election process is so interesting that you don't really notice it. The storylines are as well written as ever, the acting superb. The scenes with Leo are especially poignant since John Spencer's death. Part of me is sad that this is the last season of West Wing, but I'm glad they are wrapping it up so effectively. If only real American politics were like this.
By a quirk of timing, we watched this final season during the last few days of the Mccain Obama election battle, and it was interesting to think that West Wing may have introduced the American public to the idea of a non-white president.
This last season moves gradually away from Bartlet's presidency and towards the preparation of the new administration. With the usual crisply-written, well-informed and educational script, and stars such as Alan Alda and Jimmy Smits as the two presidential nominees, quality drama was guaranteed. We started watching the West Wing from the beginning early in 2008, because offerings on TV were appalling (still are). I think it is one of the best written, acted and produced long-term dramas I have ever watched. It ranks up there with Frasier and the Sopranos. If you find the TV schedules just don't offer you what you want, check this out. Very highly recommended and sorely missed.

Even though it wasn’t a big hit at the time, this very faithful but also inspired adaptation quickly established itself as one of the cult phenomena of our times, and I’m sure Palahniuk’s sales went through the roof. Choke is the first Palahniuk book to reach the big screen since then, though a couple more are in the works. This is very different. A low-budget... Read more
