  • Gripping mix of tension and bad Italian teens

The lifeless body of an attractive teen girl is found in a dusty attic. She's hung and everything points in the direction of a suicide. Closer investigations, however, points out that the girl has been murdered elsewhere before dragged into the attic. The discovery of the corpse slowly unravels a network of teen-prostitution in which several eminent civilians are involved. This hardens the police investigation while the killer (on a motorcycle and carrying an authentic butcher knife) is still on the loose. `What Have They Done to Our Daughters' is kind of like a sequel to `Solange' (or fully entitled: What have you done to Solange'). The stories don't follow each other but they handle about similar events: young schoolgirls caught in a web of unsettling and sleazy affairs. Both films are above average gialli, with an incredibly high tension-level and killer musical scores. Even though `Solange' upholds the mystery longer and more efficiently, this film contains a little more action. Best example to state this is the extended police car versus motorcycle chase through the beautiful streets of Italy. The budgets, however, are low so don't expect blood-soaked murders like the ones featuring in Dario Argento gialli.

Young girl's apparent hanging suicide triggers investigation into black leather clad homicidal motorcyclist with very posh looking meat cleaver. Investigations proceed at pace while few other deaths and near deaths ocur. In the end the mysterious masked assassin dies with luger in his hand. I rented it few years ago and when I have now watched it online I never remembered single thing about it (but I thought its title was what they have done to OUR daughters). Passable giallo, check out Deep Red (Profondo Rosso) than explores same kind of territory and has David Hemmings in it whereas this one has Mario Adorf.

Not a bad film with decent action, violence and suspense and even some nudity however the sound is poor as would be expected of a film from 1974. All in all pretty good.

  • Fulfilling thriller

I thought this was going to be a horror but it's more of a thriller.

I was expecting a low-budget, shakey but fun effort. Instead, I found it really well made. Maybe I'm easily pleased but I thought the characters were strong and believable plus the plot unfolded in a tangible way (I have become a bit lost with some other euro offerings).

Pretty exciting as well with some thrilling (steady-on) chase sequences.

The Italian rozzers had some nippy old bangers eh?

Oh yeah -some nice touches with the camera-work too imho.

Cheesy as you like, especially considering the vintage. But hey, if you like a bit of lively vintage cheese, this should definitely be your bag!

This is without a doubt the biggest load of rubbish I have ever viewed, with absolutely no redeeming parts what so ever, it is complete and utter garbage. released on the shameless label which kind of says it all.

Lack lustre entry in the Italian Giallo genre. Promising premise - schoolgirls being used as call-girls - but this doesn't deliver. What is often regarded as 'charm' by enthusiasts, translates to irritation for most of us. Dreadful special effects and unrealistic action - a murderer with a cleaver would run around with it held above his head? Errrrr...no - makes this a very mediocre slasher flick. Obviously the poor dubbing never helps and the seventies production values look incredibly dated. This just isn't a very good example of giallo.
