What just happened indeedBy Eyesrsore (23 reviews) from Glasgow , 22 Sep 2008
[Highly rated reviewer]I went along to see What Just Happened, which was probably the reaction of most of the audience. I've thought about it quite a bit and still don't really know what to make of it. I'm not sure at all that the makers knew what kind of film they were making. I thought the tone was all over the place, that the pacing was wildly erratic - in fact I think there's two different films in there trying to get out. I realise what they were trying to do, to make a film that shows someone with an incredibly busy life, full of stresses, trying to cope but for me it didn't work. For example, one of the first things he did was pick his two young kids, from his first wife, and take them to school. We never saw them or his first wife again. There wasn't even a reference to them in the remainder of the film.
I loved some of the scenes where he was trying to reconnect with his second wife. No spoilers, but there is a film in this alone. It just got cluttered up with ..... the clutter of the film. What was the reason for the manic scenes with Bruce Willis? He was a caricature of himself, as was the Director. The film could have done without them, it would then probably have been regarded as an 'intelligent satire ' on the film industry, instead it seems to be a film that lost it's way and ended up as drama that turned out to be a comedy or a comedy that turned out to be a drama but really is neither.

Funny and very interestingBy GaryI (785 reviews) from March, Cambs , 21 Dec 2009Hollywood exposes are potentially great fun and whilst this is no where close to The Player this is a great little movie. Indeed DeNiro is excellent as the put upon producer dealing with his hippy artistic director, the tyrannical studio head, and a very pyscho Bruce Willis, playing himself.
I thought it was great and I suppose I did see where it could have been a brilliant comedy, it occasionally lapses into the banal, but I recommend it.
Who cares?!!By a customer from SW London , 30 Nov 2009The life of a movie producer is SO Tough...the stresses of dealing with 2 ex wives, getting a movie favourably accepted, and getting Bruce Willis to shave off his beard for his leading role....talk about stress! It's more than one good man can take....YEAH RIGHT! What utter pompous piffle, this movie was!Whatever message should have come through loud and clear got lost in the insipid telling of the story. The most pointless film I have ever seen (and I have seen a few). Not even De Niro could create magic with this script!(I was actually surprised he would have put his name to this film, but I guess the money must have been impossible to say no to). It's an hour and a half of my life I will never get back, and I regret
that.Don't make the same mistake, unless of course ostentatious Hollywood drivel, just rocks your world wild!
.......Nothing, that's what!By Dot2 (170 reviews) from Leicestershire , 12 Nov 2009A film about nothing. The worst film I have seen in a long time. I should have done the washing up instead!
ForgettableBy a customer from Carmarthen , 05 Nov 2009Sad to say I saw this a while ago and can't remember much about it except I thought I had seen the whole film before but with different actors.
DON'T WASTE YOUR TIMEBy a customer from Bromyard , 01 Nov 2009I watched this film, thought it would be interesting. Worst few hours of my life!! no real storyline, no actually respectable ending and didn't really understand the point in this film at all! Was so dissappointed and trully suprised after all having 3 A-list actors in it .... IT SUCKED. Wouldn't bother to watch it if I were you!
