For Christ sake just check the children!By Clucky from Cardiff, Wales , 11 May 2004
[Highly rated reviewer]The opening sequence of a young woman alone at home being harassed by a sinister telephone caller will probably be associated by most movie goers with the 90?s film Scream but that scene was inspired by the beginning of the above title.
However, the opening is probably the only memorable part of the film, which lags somewhat in the middle and suffers visually from a very poor film stock. That said it does pick up in the last 10 minutes or so and will probably serve has a passable film for fans of 70s Horror. 3 out of 5.

creepyBy a customer from england , 05 Dec 2007this is totaly different to the remake and for it age it is very good.
this film compared to the remake has a sting in its tail.
Chilling ClassicBy a customer from Doncaster , 24 Apr 2007The film is cleverly made in that it doesn't rely on gore or even all that much violence to create fear or horror but instead centres on the main character played by Carol Kane who manages through her portrayal of a tormented babysitter to create a very disturbing and convincing of atmosphere of fear and terror. Dated maybe by todays standards but still very well worth it.
Start and ends well, but an uninteresting middle portionBy DJM666 (276 reviews) from Walsall , 12 May 2006
[Highly rated reviewer]An average horror film at best, with an enjoyable enough beginning 15-minutes or so and end 10-minutes or so, but a middle which is very unimpressive and dull. The film also has no real tension or suspense, poor and uninteresting characters, and mostly average acting (Carol Kane as Jill is pretty good though).
disappointingBy a customer from herefordshire , 03 May 2006having seen the original in Black & White, l thought this would be just as good, it wasnt it was too dark which lost its thriller appeal, as you couldnt see enough. just goes to show 9 times out of 10 they cant rival the original
first 2/4By a customer from American living in London , 07 Mar 2006I thought the same thing I did when I saw this years ago at the theater. The first 2/4 of this film is brilliant. The rest is as if a different writer and director took over and all the creative ideas and craft left. 4 stars if you watch only the first part.
