To Jill it was the perfect babysitting job. The parents were away. The fridge was stocked. The children were tucked into bed. But when the phone rings and an ominous voice asks "Have you checked the children?" Jill's quiet night of babysitting is about to turn into a nerve-shattering nightmare of suspense, horror and dread. Awful

The trailer for the film gave away the whole point of the film so the suspense was removed before even watching the movie.

The purpose seemed to be to build up the suspense only to be let down by anti-climax after anti-climax.

Cue chilling music, POV camera shots, shots of the actress looking suitably terrified, only to find it was a cat moving about or a door slamming due to the wind, or a thousand other pointless red herrings.

Agree with the flaws in editting/continuity - example a top of the range alarm system but her friend just wanders into the house without setting it off.

    Terrible ending.

    Terrible beginning.

    Terrible middle.

    Enjoyable watch

My wife and I have seen a lot of horror movies over the last few months and most are poor, some are too slow, others rely too much on shock and forget the content, it’s clearly not that easy to make a good horror but I would suggest to fans of the genre that is a good attempt. What first appeared to be Scream but without the famous profiles in the credits turned out to be an enjoyable and tense thriller horror. The plot has not been over-run with unrealistic twists, something that has become a little too popular in the last 12 months, building tension slowly but entertainingly to what turns out to be a simple but effective end that you in all likelihood did not see coming as you search for the twists! The acting is of good quality, the plot fairly simple but effective whilst the horror comes from the built tension as opposed to gore or a big beast as a villain! Slow in places and not an Oscar winner but an enjoyable watch. 4 Stars.

    WTF? Complete waste of time

Ok, lets start at the beginning, we find out someone has been murdered in a bedroom and by the look on the policemans face, and the multiple bodybags coming out of the house (for just one victim) this looked promising. That's when I should have turned off, the rest of the film is nothing but filler, which would be forgiveable if YOU ACTUALLY SAW SOMEONE DIE, I'm not a gore addict but a bit of horror wouldn't go amiss in a HORROR film. I don't usually say this but this film was a complete waste of time. Heed my warning!

    Not Bad

Quite Suspensfeul in parts, built the pressure & tension nicely, only to throw it away at the end with a weak ending. However.........Camilla, (the lead actress), is ridiculously cute, I couldn't tear my eyes away from her cute baps throughout the film!

    When a Stranger Calls

This was a good tense psycological thriller. It kept you on the edge of your seat and the jumps and frights you would expect from this type of film.

For me the only thing that let it down was a weak ending and it could have concluded much better.

All in all though a good one to rent.

    complete turd

i had some freinds round and as i had just recieved this rental i thought we should give it a try. and i can truthfully tell you i wish i hadnt as this film is by far the worst film i have rented in here, the acting bad, the stories bad, actually just about everythings bad. infact what kept us watching it was how much of a joke it is and the fact the girl was fit. but she was so dense at the same time, why didnt she just not pick up the phone? why didnt she just sit down and watch TV? and also how the hell did that guy it in there in the first place that house/mantion was more secure than war time colditz castle!

i beg you dont waste your time with this.

    Nifty little thriller

This little gem relies on good old fashioned suspense for the most part with many of the deaths not shown on screen. This however does not soften the impact of a brutal and sadistic killer, who targets children and teenagers. Suspense is built slowly as a babysitter is terrorised in an isolated hi-tech house (which is almost a character itself), who eventually has to use all her cunning and courage to save the children she is sitting and survive a madman's silent stalking. My only problem was that the last act was rushed and could have sustained further tension. Well worth a look - but turn down the lights!!

Over an hour of phone calls

For the first hour nothing happened except for continuous phone calls. Then when the action started the film was over.

One of the weakest films I've seen in a while.
