(12)Sean Aims To Be A Sharp(e) Blade!
By TonyinMatlock (1 review) from Matlock, Derbyshire, England. , 04 Oct 2011Great film which I could watch over and over again. As a football fan, I was immediately drawn to this, and was not at all disappointed.
Excellent storyline, easy to follow, and embellished with real emotion and human weakness/temptation; the latter which so often blocks to path to realising aspirations.
Far too many films these days have undeniably brilliant effects, but often with difficult (sometimes weak) main themes. Here is a nitty-gritty, down-to-earth tale of real-life football; a working-class scenario of times when scouts sat out in all weathers, looking for local, home-grown talent; far from the world of the 'Premiership cheque book' and obscene amounts paid for players with unpronouncable names.
'When Saturday Comes' gives me an 'adrenalin rush' and a nostalgic longing for the world of the REAL 'beautiful game', when we watched our local heroes score a hat-trick (hopefully!) and then adjourned to the warmth of the pub for a few beers with our mates.
Enjoy!- Was this review helpful to you?

Remember the Blades?
By a customer , 11 Aug 2011A good footie feel good factor film. Perhaps a little far fetched but entertaining never the less. I read somewhere that Sean Bean was 36 when he starred in this film and most Footballers are well and truely finished by about this time in their career. Jimmy Muir (Sean Bean) was just getting started. Definately worth a watch though.- Was this review helpful to you?
