UNEXPECTEDLY GOOD.

WHEN I RENTED THIS FILM, I ASKED MYSELF,' WHAT DID YOU DO THAT FOR ?' ,BUT MY SELECTIONS WERE RUNNING LOW AND I HAD TO FILL THEM UP, SO I STUCK THIS ONE DOWN. WHEN IT STARTED MY HUSBAND MUTTERED SOMETHING ABOUT 'GIRLY FLICK' BUT WHEN IT FINISHED WE BOTH SAID HOW MUCH WE HAD ENJOYED WATCHING IT, WHICH IS WHAT RENTAL IS ALL ABOUT.- Was this review helpful to you?

(28)Heartfelt Touching Drama
By filmsaremypassion (149 reviews) from Bexhill , 18 Apr 2011Natalie Portman stars as Novalee Nation, a pregenant young woman who gets abandoned by her country singer boyfriend one day. With nowhere to go, she spends her time in a Oklahoma Wal-Mart where her life changes for the better and worst of times. This is a heartfelt, touching, emotional and great drama that pulls you in. Portman is excellent, making her character really come to life and you root for her throughout the film. Ashley Judd is fantastic as her friend Lexie, with her strengh and good charm she's a great actress. Definaly one to check out for a girly night in or watch together with your loved ones.- Was this review helpful to you?

Not bad
By a customer from Oxfordshire , 14 Oct 2010This is an ok, lightweight film. Better than watching the TV. I know that's not saying much but it did keep me watching until the end so it was entertaining.- Was this review helpful to you?

Tepid and ineffectual
By BigMeUp (281 reviews) from Midlands, UK , 16 Jun 2010`Where The Heart Is` is a lukewarm and largely-ineffective drama. The story (such as it is) wends its way slowly through quiet byways, avoiding twists, turns or any other exciting manoeuvres.
I remain unconvinced that the entire trip was worth the journey.- Was this review helpful to you?

I loved it despite knowing
By a customer from Oxford , 18 Aug 2009that it's a terrible film!
It's one thing after another; a modern day melodrama. The characters are one dimensional and unbelivable.
HOWEVER I loved the cosy feel-good element of it. I also realise that I find anything depicting (a version of) small town America fasciniating.
Buy lots of popcorn and M&Ms, send the men to the pub/cinema and wallow in this chick flick.- Was this review helpful to you?
