In this entertaining family movie, a 12-year-old boy (Stewart Petersen) living in 1930s Oklahoma finds caring for his two hounds helps him overcome the trials and tribulations of the Depression era. Directed by children's adventure specialist and Disney stalwart Norman Tokar, it stars James Whitmore as the boy's grandfather and former Roger Corman ingénue Beverly Garland as his mother.
