Believe it or not, this attempt at an allegorical western features Charles Bronson as Wild Bill Hickok, returning to the plains in search of the great spectral white buffalo that he dreams of every night. In this quest he is joined by Crazy Horse, played by familiar native American actor Will Sampson. Deep, deep down there is the potential for a marvellously meditative and mythical western — some critics have detected a sly transposition of Moby Dick — but almost everything about The White Buffalo doesn't work, including the buffalo itself and Bronson's self-regarding performance. Despite some distracting cameos from Kim Novak, Slim Pickens and TV hunk Clint Walker, this is a real clinker.

I could not watch this flim as it would only play 3/4 of way through and stop
