Truly dreadful, avoid at all costs.By a customer from Bristol, England , 25 Mar 2006
[Highly rated reviewer]I rarely post reviews but I feel it is my duty to protect people from this film.
This is the worst movie I have ever seen. It has no redeeming features. You know those films that are so bad theyre good, this isnt one of them. It is bad on so many levels that watching this film is likely to contravene the human rights convention.
This is a martial arts film with precious little that is martial and nothing that is art. It tries to be a romantic comedy but lacks both humour and characters that you can care about. The script and storyline is an appalling effort that seems to have been knocked together on a Sunday afternoon by a bunch of 13-year olds. The actors never stood a chance, but dont seem to have attempted a rescue mission.
I love this genre, there have been some brilliant martial arts comedies, but this is 90 minutes of your life that you can never get back. Youll get more satisfaction from eating this DVD than playing it.

DreadfulBy vdb (2 reviews) from Isleworth , 28 Aug 2008This is like, so, you know... Arrrgghhh! Made for American teenagers with the attention span of goldfish. Avoid at all costs.
White Dragon - Fun film!By Jouyi (1 review) from Canterbury , 31 May 2008As usual, with Chinese films, the trailer and online synopsis is incredibly misleading, making this film out to be an all out action film! I think the reason this film has had so many bad reviews online is because people weren't expecting this type of film at all! Though there's action and fighting at certain points in the film, it is a romantic film with some very funny moments! The odd thing is the way it tries to blend drama, comedy, romance and action, which doesn't always work, but the end result is nonetheless a sweet love story with some cool fight scenes and two brilliant main characters; as usual, expect a fantastic and sensitive performance from the ever-cool and talented Francis Ng, who plays a character very similar to Japan's Zatoichi... So much smoother though.
Watch with low expectations...By Moonglum101 (3 reviews) from Yeovil, England , 30 Apr 2008The first ten minutes of this film it seemed to not know what it was trying to be, but just before fifteen minutes was up I realised it was meant to be a comedy, and some other things...
I don't know why I added this film to my rental queue, which is not to say that I regret the decision, but it certainly was not based on the reviews. I have however read the reviews before writing this one, and so what I write here is in the context of what has gone before me.
I can't agree with the statement that the martial arts in this film are good, for two reasons; Firstly, the camera angle jumps literally every second or two seconds during action sequences, meaning that the action is very 'bitty' and lacking in coherency. Secondly, when there is coherency, quite clearly the action is meant to be a parody of martial arts. It is quite funny in that respect, really. Silly might be a better word for it.
I think the director must have been on speed in post-production the way the camera angles jump about all the time, but when they finally got bored of switching angles all the time things did become a bit more coherent. The story cannot be called imaginative but it does have its humerous moments, with plenty of mockery of modern culture some of which was pretty funny to me.
All in all, if you watch this film with a light heart and relatively low expectations of it, then you may just enjoy it :)
