Writer/director Ron Shelton is that rare beast: someone who can make movies with wit, warmth and perception about American sports. This is a marvellous tale about two basketball players (Wesley Snipes and Woody Harrelson) who make their living hustling fellow street players around Los Angeles. The plot is fairly simplistic, but the pleasure comes from Shelton's fizzing foul-mouthed dialogue, the charismatic performances of the two stars and the superbly choreographed basketball sequences. And, as an added bonus, even Rosie Perez, as Harrelson's girlfriend, manages to stay the right side of irritating.
"...Snipes, it's clear, is going to be a very big star. Fiercely magnetic, with the insinuating velvet sexiness of a matinee idol....He also has an actor's awareness..."
This film hooks you from the 1st scene to the last. With its wit and dark sense of humour. Harrelson and Snipes are perfect together and both pull off their roles brilliantly.
Feeding of each other like morcambe and wise tthey go on the trail of the big prize ... The Basketball shootout tournament. Hustling everyone and each other along the way.
By the end of the film yourribs hurt from laughing so much.
This is a must see

Harrelson made his name playing a simpleton bartender in the hit comedy, but when the show ended he admits he was left in the showbiz wilderness. He eventually landed the lead role playing a basketball hustler in 1992 movie White Men Can't Jump, after Reeves was ruled out - because he lacked the... Read more
