this film is based on the comic book of the same name and stars Kate Beckinsale and Gabriel Macht.

A U.S. deputy marshal called Carrie Stetko(played by Kate Beckinsale), who is the only one assigned to Antarctica, must investigate a murder on the frozen continent within three days before the antarctic winter begins.

She crosses paths with a UN operative called Robert Pryce (played by Gabriel Macht), who is also investigating the murder.

Carrie must solve the murder before being trapped in the 'whiteout' with a cold blooded murderer.

Goodness me, was this a stupid pile of rubbish.... If you are a sophisticated movie watcher, then by all means stay away from this. If you like a badly written storyline that makes no sense then this movie might be for you. For instance, three people drive out into the ice and find a hole in the middle of nowhere. And then all three of them climb down the hole!!!!!! Any reasonable group of people would have one person stay outside to call for help if something happens. After all, you are in the Antarctic! There were many scenes like this that just made no sense at all. I did not enjoy watching this film, not even on a lazy afternoon. Some people should refrain from making movies.

Pretty average movie, Kate was prob the best thing in it. Forget watching this on disc, just catch it via Stream one evening if you are particularly bored and have nothing else to watch.

The blizzard effects are very well done, but what spoiled this film for me was Kate Beckinsale's poor acting. Despite the wind-lashed snow and freezing ice storm, throughout the film she maintained an immaculate bob hairstyle and perfect make-up and lip gloss, with not an eyelash blighted by snow. She looked like she had just stepped out of a beauty salon throughout.

An ok thriller to pass away 90 minutes. Beautiful scenery and a few flashes of action but don't expect too much
