    [Highly rated reviewer]

Depends which way you look at it really.

Watching this under duress and after concluding that perhaps this low budget, home movie was absent of the prefix 'Who care's.......... ', I was in no way surprised that the end credits arrived finding me none the wiser whatsoever.

Instead, one has to endure what is essentially a badly edited, cheaply made biog of those two perennial no hopers Sid and Nancy.

THE SPOILER (if you can call it that):

Shock horror! Hold the front page. It was this bloke who was called, maybe, err Michael. Hey! You even get to see a childlike, scribble on a crumpled piece of toilet paper as proof. Far be it from me to question the recollections of a motley band of self confessed drug takers, talking about events of over thirty years ago but I’m not convinced. Somebody else remembers this murderous felon too. Apparently he smiled a lot afterward. So there you go, case closed.

These heart stopping revelations come two minutes from the end of this amateurish, mish mash of old TV footage/ photo bucket reconstructions and various 'we were there' interviews from assorted nobodies. Glen Matlock and Don Letts the notable exceptions.

So back to Sid and Nancy themselves. Why anybody is still interested in this wasted, self serving, talentless duo is beyond me. The King and Queen of nihilistic, self pitying, heroin chic are quite pointless. Devoid of any meaningful cult of personality, however hard commercial enterprises like this one try and convince of some. For a far more realistic overview I suggest Julian Temple’s “The Filth and the fury”.

The evidence for Sid’s innocence is interesting if repetitive and some of the interviews are fairly engaging but it’s all got the feel of a Sunday tabloid, magazine exclusive about it.

The title is misleading and the characters involved are distinctly unlikeable or suitably detached.

What’s next? “Who ran that final bath for Jim?” Or maybe, “Did Elvis really have a stomach ulcer?”

Pretty pointless viewing even for the most avid of conspiracy theorists.

being brought up on the Sid and Nancy love story I hoped this doc would fill in all the gaps, i thought it was great a real sense of the time their lives and the murder, who killed her who knows it would be great if it could be solved and maybe one day it will until then just sit back and enjoy the 70s, great doc, great interviews.

This film is basically a documentary, featuring archive footage of Sid, Nancy, and more recent interviews with their friends & accquaintances, and asking them about the couple's history, where they were when Nancy died...
