    [Highly rated reviewer]

Hammy acting, particularly from Ms Jackson who was revelling in her guru-like role, let this feel good tale of wealthy black american society down. I also felt the relationships were exaggerated to the point of being unrealistic.

I thoroughly enjoyed the movie. Great for couples as the movie tries to highlight the challenges that we encounter. Give it a go, you will laugh... and learn....

  • Why did I waste 2 hours of my life?

Several upscale couples convene at a mountain cabin for a weekend of introspection and recriminations. No, this is not Woody Allen or Ingmar Bergman but something much more facile altogether. One-man industry Perry may be able to assemble some good Afro-American talent but he hasn’t a clue what to do with it. Scenes are awkwardly staged, the actors are left floundering, their motivations are inexplicable (Richard T. Jones’s character is almost pantomimic in his cruelty to his overly angelic, long-suffering wife) and the dialogue is lifted straight from fortune cookies. You’d be better off spending two hours with a marriage counsellor instead.

This film was excellent from start to finish.

Both my boyfriend and myself really enjoyed it, the characters and relationships all have a little something you can relate too.

The storyline was great, and the ending was brilliant, already have the second one why did i get married too? on our list to watch.

I thought this sounded potentially dire what with a Janet Jackson lead and entered with trepidation at the behest of my girlfriend who had alighted on the film. I was probably in the mood for something (anything) though after Sweet November...

    It was a heartwarming revelation.

Its quirky, intelligent, witty, amusing, genuinely insightful in parts and really engaging. The general conversations were almost of an ad lib quality, particularly when the men got together to discuss 'stuff'.

    Worth a wider audience viewing.
