    [Highly rated reviewer]

I guess similar theme to paris Texas, set in 17th century colonies on North American East Coast with great photography and acting. In German with English subtitles.

  • Wings of Desire - not very desirable....sorry

Very 'arty' film - too self-indulgent. I gave it a good long time - not keen on subtitled films anyway - had a little bit of flair but took too long to do too little - I could only cope with about 25mins before I hit the fast forward button.

  • Interesting, but...

Cinema worrying about TV. Yes, interesting, particularly as we now have so many ways to undermine the film industry.

Definitely worth a watch, but I wish I'd caught it on telly, rather than squandering an easyCredit on it.

Interesting as a view of the film world coming to terms with television, but oh how dated now we have so many other ways to undermine the cinema. That's what made it interesting really.

No doubt worth a watch, but I wish I'd caught it on telly rather than squandered an easyCredit on it.

  • Not very good.

This is a shallow, lazy, boring film. Paris Texas was great but everything else I’ve seen by this director has been pretentious and boring. I decided to give this a go because I love the cast but it was a huge waste of their talent and my time.

  • Wim Wenders Collection

I made the mistake and rented the Wim Wenders Collection. Some of the films were really good, specifically 'Paris, Texas'; 'The American Friend ' and 'The Scarlet Letter definitely deserve four stars. However, I found most of the documentaries quite boring. The only exception was 'a trick of the light' which was not only very interesting but also quite amusing.

On the opposite e.g. 'Room 666' is just ca 45 minutes documentary which I think should not be rented as a single DVD but together with the other documentaries. Did not like 'the wrong move' either, full of citing of existential phylosophy. Next time I will certainly 'cherry pick' the interesting movies rather than renting the entire collection.
