Winner WinnerBy RedDex (18 reviews) from Hampshire , 28 May 2011
[Highly rated reviewer]The trailer for Win Win doesnt do the film any justice. This isnt a film about wrestling at all, just as The Blind Side wasnt a film about football for example. It features wrestling sure, but it could be any sport and shouldnt put anybody off.
In a similar way as City Island, Win Win features a father hiding a secret from his family. And the similarities dont end there. Win Win is a great little film that hasnt been given a wide release and wont make much at the box office perhaps because of a lack of any real star appeal, but it is an under-rated, dark comedy drama featuring some great acting and a solid debut from Alex Shaffer as troubled Kyle.
As with the Blind Side, Win Win features a well intentioned adult mentoring a troubled youngster in a sometimes heart warming, sometimes brutally realistic tale. And theres enough in the story line to keep the audience interested to the end with the feeling that the lie might unravel at any moment.

A Real Heart-warmerBy jackarmy1912 (1 review) , 13 Dec 2013A great story that is brilliantly acted throughout. Giamatti is brilliantly throughout, as his character comes up against various obstacles. I particularly liked the character Terry who added a great comedy element throughout. A great indie watch.
Great film with humour and heartBy hookedonfilm (10 reviews) , 11 Dec 2013Why can't they all be like this .great writing and directing, beautiful acting, real emotion and a believable storyline. Can't work out if it's a comedy with pathos or a drama with touches of gentle comedy. Can't think of any films to compare it with - but it's definitely worth watching.
Win,Winner, Watch.By Gee35 (23 reviews) , 10 Dec 2013Great movie. It is so nice to find these rare gems. Know nothing about wrestling and it didn't matter, the movie is about humour, life and how it is portrayed by a very talented and unusual cast. Great story, very apt for the post financial meltdown, emotional for all the right reasons. Paul Giamatti is superlative in this type of role.

Surprisingly winningBy RJNeb2 (1016 reviews) from London , 05 Aug 2013On paper, this doesn't look very prepossessing at all - a sadsack lawyer sees the opportunity for some extra income by installing one of his clients in an old folks' home but is unprepared for the man's grandson showing up, looking for a place to stay. Misleadingly advertised as a sports movie (the grandson is a topnotch wrestler and yes, there is a sporting montage sequence), this is actually all about character and is filled with relatable, interesting ones at that, well played by all concerned. It's a quiet little film with modest aspirations and all the better for it.
