An important film for HK movie lovers.

Winners and Sinners is one of the first contemporary Action/Comedies from the likes of Jackie Chan and Sammo Hung (Until then they'd both been hugely successful in period martial arts films such as Magnificent Butcher or Young Master).

The plot is shoddy, the action spectacular and the comedy - apart from the hilarious Richard Ng - impenetrable. However, it deserves credit for being the forerunner of the many great ensemble movies that were to arrive for the next 15 years and serves as an example to many modern actioners on how to do it without the aid of CGI.

As usual, the DVD from Hong Kong Legends is outstanding; an excellent commentary from Bey Logan, a new interview with Sammo Hung and many, many trailers for new and upcoming releases.

    TOP MOVIE !!!

Winners And Sinners stars Chan as a tough Hong Kong cop, CID 07, who believes no one should be above, below or even to one side of the Law. On an undercover assignment to track down a set of counterfeiting plates, he encounters Teapot (Sammo Hung), one of a wacky bunch of ex-cons. When the plates end up in the back of a cleaning van operated by Teapot and his buddies, there follows a comedy of errors that pits them against a ruthless crime boss. As the chips come down, both winners and sinners collide in a frantically paced showdown.

    Lucky Stars Start Here.

This was the first of what would become the Lucky Stars series of films by Sammo Hung. It features Jackie Chan, Sammo Hung and Yuen Biao and has a mix of slapstick comedy and frantic action.

Jackie does some crazy stunt work on roller skates, and fights Yuen Biao when there is a misunderstanding in the street. One highlight is when Sammo and Jackie foil a robbery in a fast food restaraunt.

The comedy is not for all tastes, but I don't mind it. This is probably the weakest of the series for action.

Frankly, a bit of a mess

Like most of Sammo Hung's directorial efforts, this is a very indulgent, lazy kind of film. With Jackie Chan relegated to little more than an extended cameo role, the burden of the picture rests with a quintet of ex-cons who start a laundry service and then, accidentally, get involved with an underworld counterfeiting ring.

The comedy does throw up some laughs now and again, but the romance is a dud, and, for action fans, there's only the climax, where Hung finally throws his substantial weight around, and the Chan episodes, which effortlessly prove what a charismatic star he is. More of him, less of the rest, please.

Dated and No Fun to Boot

Tired and rather cliched 80's Sammo Hung comedy actioner with no bite. What a waste of that nice Mr Chan's effort.

    Excellent Movie

A good martial arts film, because Jackie Chans in it! I give 3 stars because there isn't much fighting in it, but better than watching Mr Vampire!

    Lucky Stars Start Here.

This was the first of the Lucky Stars series that feature Jackie Chan, Sammo Hung and Yuen Biao. Directed by Sammo Hung this is a mix of slapstick comedy, crazy stunts and powerhouse Kung Fu fights. Jackie does some crazy stuntwork on roller skates in this one, while Sammo flexes his fighting muscles for some classic action.

    good fun

Yeah this was a good fun movie with a small part by Jackie Chan, don’t take it serious, as this is a low budget good-hearted comedy with some absolutely hilarious fight scenes

    LOL.....FILM FOR A LAUGH

When i watched this i was feeling a little down and it cheered me up no end....Ok its old and has some really freaked music , but its still great and it all adds to the films charm.Chan does not have a star role but still has a pretty good part in the film, its not bad just because he ent in every scene. It really is a great laugh, trust me . Dont rate it bad just because you cant appreciate the film for what it is.A bit of fun. A good laugh with a bit of action and a fairly decent plot thrown in for good measure......If u wanna be boring and dont like laughing forget this and go watch some serious stuff like documentaries on wild life..Or maybe 1 of chans other films like Crime story, or New Police story!!!!!!! Which also was very good.
