Reading the obituary of the cinematographer Richard Moore, I was prompted to view Winning, the 1969 fiml starring Paul Newman as a Racing Driver.
Richard Moore was a pioneer. With others he developed Panavision, which became the industry standard film format.
Moore was the cinematographer on Winning, where he pioneerd the use of a remotely controlled camera fixed to Paul Newman's car, which he could pan, tilt and zoom.
His tehnical mastery was for me the point of the film. The film itself was a run of the mill Newman vehicle.
Very good if you like motor racing, otherwise of no great merit.
