Lieder

Lieder may not be everyone's cup of tea and I have never been much of an enthusiast. However a friend of mine is a great Schubert fan and recommended this to me. If you are unfamiliar with the songs then it certainly helps to have English subtitles. As I understand it all the songs are liinked to the theme that the singer has had to leave his lover, I guess rejected. The songs are very sad and often moving, I've no doubt written from the heart. I gather Schubert had a sad life. I certainly recommend this to anyone who would like to have a go at Lieder.- Was this review helpful to you?
