The Wire is not only the best programme on television again but, amazingly, even better than the first series
Gritty, utterly involving cop show. A dozen slices of brilliance.
I found this a lot better than the first series, probably helped by the fact i already knew the characters. Plot lines and acting are fantastic, not a bad actor among them. I cannot recommend this enough. I am not a fan of 'cop' shows, but this and The Shield are the only ones worth watching.
I loved the first series of The Wire: the acting was brilliant and characters on both sides of the law were very engaging.
However, this series brings in a whole new story and set of characters that it is very hard to care about. It also looks set to become, in part, a soap opera about the police characters and their personal relationships.
This seems to me to be a pale imitation of the brilliance of the first series - I can't really be bothered to watch any more.
