The best television show ever produced. That may sound like hyperbole, but this show is on the level with great literature. I would compare it to the great works of Charles Dickens. Though it details Baltimore, it has a lot to say about how any city functions. Outstanding in every way.
If you get a copy of The Wire mailed to you, don't make any plans that evening. It is an eminently crafted, unmissable drama series ... and it doesn't spoon-feed the viewer, which is refreshing. Sometimes you have to do a bit of work to keep up with the action; sometimes things happen off-camera that take you a while to assimilate. Far more realistic than your average series that always starts with the ubiquitous voice-over, 'Previously on ...'. Just FAB!
