    Excellent

I found this a lot better than the first series, probably helped by the fact i already knew the characters. Plot lines and acting are fantastic, not a bad actor among them. I cannot recommend this enough. I am not a fan of 'cop' shows, but this and The Shield are the only ones worth watching.

    fantastic

brilliant, acting, direction. The story lines are very complex and totaly absorbing. If Shakespear was writing a police series he would struggle to match this one.

    Superfluous!!

Second season may see a different case being introduced and may be even slower to start than the first but it's so good it hurts.

the uncompromising narrative style means you have to listen and pay attention- the shield it aint!!

Even if you prefer the season 1 story line- let just say you need to watch this...it just keeps on getting bigger....

Up with the best of them

I am really enjoying this. It's up there with NYPD and Sopranos. Took me a while to get in tune with the accents in series one. This series seems more accessable, but that's probably because I have come to know many of the characters in the first series. Haven't got Sky so never saw it before - but having rented series 1 & most of series 2 I prefer watching this way rather than waiting till next week. Eagerly awaiting last 2 dvds of series two. Series 3 on order. Excellent T.V for grown ups who don't mind thinking.

    Getting better all the time...

Having been blown away by series 1, I am now hooked on series 2. You need to see series 1 first, it introduces the players and the context.

Series 2 adds another layer of characters and city politics to make the setting all the more gripping. The beauty of the piece lies in the complexity and nuances of the people-- no one is wholly good or bad, (with one exception, perhaps, the Greek), and the dilemmas facing them oh so real. You ask yourself, how would I act in those circumstances? And then you are brought up short by some of the brutal actions that are taken...

    Compelling, realistic, challenging...brilliant. Go see.

    Unequalled

If anything, better than the superb first series. The second run sees the introduction of a plotline parallel to the cat-and-mouse games familiar to anybody who watched 'The Wire' from the start. Yet again we see incredible writing, acting and storytelling, but if anything, with more depth than the first series. Guest directors and writers, such as Ernest Dickerson and George Pelecanos add further spice. You really cant go wrong with this; I couldn't wait to see the next installment as soon as an episode finished. Perfection.

    Superb!!!

I advise everyone to watch this show. The acting, writing and production are first class. You've probably never heard of it, I suppose it's a cross between nypd blue and the shield (only better!). If you like either of these shows (or similar) you shouldn't be disappointed!

    brilliant

A pleasure to watch, beautifully written, at times funny and at times heartbreaking. The characters are completely believable, and the acting is superb. Some truly unforgettable characters really stay with you, the grittiness, the struggles, the hypocrisy, the nobility of the soul. No baddie is a true baddie, no goody is truly good. The local environment and the cities of Baltimore and Philadelphia are perfectly captured as so are all kinds of walks of life in America today. I can't wait for the next series to come out in february!

    Great Show

Takes a little longer to get going than the first season, but by the 3rd episode its clear why. Another great series

    The Cop Show to watch

This is the cop show to watch. Again, like series 1, takes a little while to get going, but once it does, you'll be addicted. Quite possibly the best cop show since the David Caruso episodes of NYPD Blue 94/95 and at times, incredibly funny.

Interesting in that the black drug dealers from series 1 take a real back seat to Polish dockers in this series, but the groundwork for their full time return in series 3 is laid as series 2 reaches its climax.

The acting is superb and Omar, the gay black gangster who steals from the drug gangs, is one of the most memorable tv characters of recent years.

The most compelling cop show ever

The first series was brilliant, but ended with a few loose ends. I suppose the writers weren't sure of a second series, but now they are given full scope to create a series that is brilliantly observed with well crafted characters full of drama and tragedy. The format of the series and the ones that follow are unique in modern day television, choosing to centre on one case the entire series. This is must see T.V. I guarentee that you will be desperate to get your hands on the third series by the end of this second.
