(6)Ditchblade
By Kaxxx (46 reviews) from Portadown, N.Ireland , 07 Oct 2009So i've been trying recently to watch a lot more Anime because I love the style but aint checked out nearly enough to be any kind of authority in the genre. However, 'I know what I likes and I know what I dont likes', and its the Anime Witchblade sadly. I'm a big comic book fan (who said Geek?!) and have been a fan of Top Cow's stuff for quite a few years, particularly Marc Silvestri and his work on 'The Darkness' series of books. Great stuff. So whist following 'The Darkness' the stories crossed over with 'Witchblade' quite a bit and thats where I became familiar with the character and what that world was about. NOW, maybe I'm going senile at 32 years old or maybe I have an uncanny ability to be able to mentally block out bulls**t that pisses me off when reading, playing or watching certain things but can anybody out there tell me where in the name of sweet baby Jesus did they get the little kid with the most annoying persona in the history of showbiz to add the little sumbitch into this damn cartoon?! I dont remember her in the books! In fact, for this Vol. 1 of Witchblade, there was nothing other than the look of the transformed character and the name Witchblade that was anything remotely to do with the stories of Witchblade!! This story was NEVER about a mom and daughter relationship! And the really sad thing about it is that this is obviously what the entire crux of the whole show is - and which, for me is clearly the most mind numbingly annoying part of each episode! Anybody who follows Top Cow stories will know how intricate each story and indeed how each character is but this Anime version of Witchblade is full of typical characters offering nothing new and certainly no substance. The entire thing seems confused. One minute you have the little cutesy girl running about talking to dogs and the next you have Witchblade (always seemingly bordering on orgasm) slaughtering pervert robots! Is it for kids or adults - PICK ONE! On this disc were trailers for other Anime shows, 'Basilisk' and 'Trinity Blood' which look a bit more grown up and involved (and both of which were better in 30 seconds than the 4 episodes of this crap!). Maybe they should've went that direction and sold Witchblade to the people who actually read the stories...Adults!- Was this review helpful to you?

This is Ok
By flickwitch (49 reviews) from Hinckley , 24 Mar 2009If you like manga and graphic novels in general, you'll like this. It was the first time I'd tried this sort of film and though it was ok but probably won't rush to try another.- Was this review helpful to you?

Slow to get started
By commanderd (13 reviews) from Swindon , 27 Feb 2009Nice animation, great music, I'm not a great fan of the 'cute kid' angle that seems to be overused in this but that is personal preference.- Was this review helpful to you?

Far better than expected
By a customer from Aberystwyth , 14 Jan 2009Lovers of manga, anime and graphic novels in general will enjoy this. The plot manages to avoid spiralling into the convoluted weirdness of some Anime. Animation is good, central plot and episodic subplots are well structured. Hopefully the series will manage to maintain this as it progresses.- Was this review helpful to you?
