BBC Period Drama At Its Best!!

With 'Wives and Daughters', the BBC has once again proved that their period drama productions are unsurpassable.

The story centres around Molly, a young, relatively simple country girl, the only daughter of a doctor. She has an incredibly close relationship with her father, her mother having died many years previously, and is contented with her lot in life. She is on intimate terms with the local squire's family and is in love with the younger son, Roger.

Her father decides to marry the former governess of an aristocratic family, who has ideas somewhat above her station and proves to be a rather difficult woman to live with. Molly tries her best to like her new stepmother but does not always succeed. Molly, however, becomes fast friends with her new stepsister, Cynthia, who is a beautiful, worldly girl who knows her power over men and chooses to exercise it indiscriminately. This causes no end of problems, especially when Roger falls for Cynthia....

A beautifully enacted production, great acting, beautiful locations and a wonderful story, I would highly recommend this to anyone!!
