my daughter loves watching Wizards of Waverly Place on The Disney Channel, and was really pleased when she found out that this great series is on dvd.
The tv series centres around the Russo family, including Alex (played by Selena Gomez), her older brother Justin (played by David Henrie), and their younger brother Max (played by Jake T. Austin).
They are wizards and live with their Italian-American father Jerry (played by David DeLuise), who himself is a former wizard, and their Mexican-American mother, Theresa (played by Maria Canals Barrera).
Alex's best friend is Harper Finkle (played by Jennifer Stone).
The children are not allowed to use magic without supervision, and only one of the three will keep their magic abilities once they are adults - this will be determined by a magic competition.
Their father Jerry once did this competition and won, but gave his powers to his brother in order to marry his mortal wife Theresa, because a wizard is not allowed to marry a mortal.
The Russo's run a sandwich shop called The Waverly Sub Station, which also has The Magic Lair, where the Russo children have magic lessons with their father Jerry. Often, the freezer is used as a portal between the Waverly Sub Station and the lair.
The family live above the shop in The Loft which is also connected to the magic lair and the Waverly Sub Station.
Alex often gets into trouble for using magic unsupervised.
Justin always makes sure that Alex does not get into any more trouble than she's already in.
Along the way, all of the kids learn moral lessons relating to friends, family and their mortal school which is called Tribeca Prep - the children also attend Wiztech - the school for wizards which is a summer boarding school that helps them hone their skills with spells and potions .
In this series Wizards-in-training Alex Russo and her brothers Justin and Max are having an awesome time experimenting with their supernatural powers but they still have a lot to learn!
well worth watching !
