this dvd (much like the superman doomsday) is superbly made and anyone expecting cheese will be surprised how much lord of the rings style action and how good the characterisation is.

don't expect the awesome linda carter tv series (!) - this slight re-imagining makes me think that a new live action wonder woman film would be a good idea, and if there was another film like this made i would surely watch it.

What a great way to spend an afternoon. Highly enjoyable animated romp. Given a modern spin but lots of Greek legend detail thrown in, mixed well not anachronistic.

I’ve never been the biggest DC Universe fan outside of the Bat so when I stumbled across a new animation about the origins of Wonder Woman it was not on my to see list. However, I do like a cartoon once in a while and the combination of a female protagonist and voice work by Nathan Fillion meant that my partner was up for watching ‘Wonder Woman’ and I have to say I was surprisingly impressed. ‘WW’ is not the strictest of origin stories, but more like the first adventure of Wonder Woman. Diana is exposed to the outside world when maverick pilot Steve Trevor crash lands on her secret Amazonian island at the same time that Ares is planning his vengeance.

In terms of storyline and set pieces ‘WW’ it of a very high standard. I think a live version of the film would have easily competed against some of the Marvel blockbusters of recent years; it’s perhaps on a par with ‘Thor’. The storyline is a clear one and you get to know both Diana/Wonder Woman and Steve. The chemistry between them builds over the film and hints at sequels in the future that could be great fun. The voice acting is also of a decent standard with Keri Russell and Fillion doing good work.

Where the film is let down most is the animation. For a kids TV show it is of a good standard, but this is a feature length DVD and I would expect a bit more. There is obviously not the budget of a cinema CGI release, but the traditional hand drawn animation is let down by some lazy frame issues and reusing of cells. The ambitious story is not served by the unambitious animation – like I said a live version would have been excellent and made full use of the ideas on offer. ‘Wonder Woman’ is still a very entertaining watch, especially for superhero fans, just don’t expect to be flabbergasted by the animation.

Do not be put off by the fact this is a cartoon. There is a lot of love that has gone into this little movie. I have never been a fan of WW and I was genuinely suprised how good this was. Check out the cast. There is no way those actors would have got involved if the script and story had not been as good as they are. This is a little gem. In the flesh, on the big screen, this would have been a surefire summer blockbuster with sequels in the pipe.
