Unmoving and clichedBy Tim from London , 10 Sep 2006
[Highly rated reviewer]Oliver Stone is not known for making subtle films but even by his standards this is bombastic and cliched. Some truly dreadful moments - especially in the flashback scenes and any scene featuring the marine where the script is toe curling. He evens resorts to visions of Jesus and the final scenes where Stone tries to make links between 9/11 and Iraq is unforgiveable. The only reason to see this film is for the terrific sound effects when the buildings collapse. If you want to see a moving film about the tragedy and heroism of that terrible day see Flight 93.

A great film!By scottishdiva (1 review) from UK , 19 Aug 2009Unlike the other reviewers of this film, I really enjoyed it. It has incredible special effects and I think Oliver Stone did the right thing focusing on just two main characters and their families. Nicholas Cage is as brilliant as ever, but I think the real *hero* of their particular story is evident when you watch it. I don't want to say who, as that would be a 'spoiler' but I hope you feel the same when you see it. The reference at the end (that another reviewer mentions) is an important part of that film and is a fitting ending. Many will agree with me. It makes you think about the cruelty man inflicts upon man but at the same time shows you the power of hope. Thousands of brave men and women risked their lives to save strangers that day and in the days that followed. Heroes all of them. This film horrified me (based on true story) and also made me cry in a couple of places. The sad thing is that it is based on a true story and I wish it wasn't. Highly Recommend it.
Tragedy and the men behind the headlinesBy a customer from London , 18 Aug 2009Unlike anything you could expect from this film, it takes you to a different side of the story. It's not about the headlines, it's about some people trying to survive and help each other survive, not giving up... Good film
good but slowBy Julie Newland from Essex , 07 Aug 2009I like Nicholas Cage but found this film slow throughout - its a fantastic storyline but should be more exciting when you think about the story behind it, Be patient its worth watching but not exciting
poorBy steve norris from Retford , 06 Aug 2009well i expected a pull of your heart string film and what we got was somekind of well its hard to say the film starts off ok letting the viewer know what was happening but then it got a bit unreal (this would have never happened) type of thought it gets a bit to unreal to believe as this is based on that terrible event i think most will be left a bit awkward once you have watched this
StunningBy Paul Guichard from Southend On Sea , 01 Jul 2009This movie was very emotionally charged.
Found myself at times moved to tears as I became engrossed in the suspence as the plot evolved. I would not hesitate to recommend this movie to anyone.
