    Micky Rourke is just mesmerizing.

A really immersive film, that manages to live the washed out wrestlers life day by agonizing day. I have only felt this level of emotional gutting once before and that was with my first view of 'Requiem for a Dream'. The world feels authentic and sometimes sexy, honoring its source material, in all it's bloody glory.

Mickey Rourke's performance is absolutely incredible and it hurts so much to stare at such a demolished incarnation of him. Marisa Tomei is beautiful and again like with the every other aspect of the film you find yourself just staring in amazement.

The film has a dark sense of humor which surprises you during the lows. You can see the turns ahead but ride is too immersive to let yourself second guess the plot, and your first time will be heart throbbing and unnerving.

    Superb performance / Superb Film

Mickey Rourke is fantastic, mesmerising, outstanding, and totally hypnotoc in his role as the 'Has been Wrestler'.

No need to like wrestling or even men in lycra clothing, this film explores that strange being the 'Sports Superstar', we all know the glory of the golden years the women, the money, the parties and the euphoria.

However what we don't all see is what happens to the majority of these people when their bodies can no longer support them, their money disappears and their 'friend lose interest'.

Unilke the sports stars of today who earn in excess of a million pounds a month, the stars of yester year never earned these vast amounts of money.

Ever wondered why sports men find it hard to stop and often carry on (past their best) to the embarrasment of all, or why sportsmen like Bruno, Gazza etc become sad shadows of them selves then this film helps to answer thise questions.

Rourke still raw over The Wrestler

    • 12 Sep 2009

Mickey Rourke refuses to watch the non-action scenes in The Wrestler - because they stir too much emotion in him. The 55 year old plays heavyweight retired grappler Randy 'The Ram' Robinson in the film, a role that earned him a Golden Globe award earlier this year (09). But one heart-wrenching scene with co-star Evan Rachel Wood, which sees Rourke's tough-guy character admit to his shortcomings, affected the star so much, he can't bring himself to watch it. Rourke says, "I refuse to watch that Read more
