The best version of Wuthering Heights I have ever seenBy a customer from Newcastle , 16 Jan 2005
[Highly rated reviewer]A worthy adaptation of Emily Bronte's classic novel of the same title about love and obsession.
The casting is superb. Ralph fiennes plays the complex and enigmatic Heathcliff, whilst Juliette Binoche plays the loving tormentor Cathy.
I felt it was the music however composed by Ryuichi Sakamoto that truly captures the bleak, dank atmosphere of the Yorkshire Moors and places this version higher than other adaptations.
All in all a must see romance/ melodrama for any serious film lover.

Missed opportunityBy a customer from Exeter , 05 Dec 2008I rented this title because I love Ralph Fiennes and Juliet Binoche - bound to be a winner I thought but sadly, and it pains me to say this, I think this is the worst rendition of Wuthering Heights that I have ever seen. Both stars are badly miscast - although they do their best. Everyone knows it's not a bundle of laughs and has no happy ending but where was the romance? Isn't this supposed to be one of the most romantic stories in English literature? In this case it failed to transfer to the screen. There was no atmosphere other than brooding malice. You couldn't see why Catherine would love this malevolent Heathcliffe. In fact, one of the younger actors looked more like a candidate for that role than Ralph Fiennes whose blue eyes and dreadful lank hairdo were a distraction throughout. And the add ons to the plot didn't work either.
If you love this type of film..you'll love itBy a customer from Clapham , 27 Oct 2008I thought this was gorgeous for the most part, but I absolutley love this type of film. The only thing that annoyed me was the casting of Juliette Binoche - not because I object to her as an actress at all, but her accent was inconsistent and I don't know why a British actress had not been chosen for the role. Ralph Fiennes' intensity was amazing.
All over the placeBy Trionon (103 reviews) from London , 06 Aug 2008Once again, all looked very promising - the cast, the director, the settings, the material....and all turned out good in their own right but just not together. The result - misplaced, miscast, misdirected. Binoche is totally confused, and there is no chemistry between her and Ralph Fiennes who is good but just not Heathcliff. So, what we are presented with is another director's lavish fantasy very loosely based on amazing Emily Bronte's novel.

Customer ReviewBy a customer from UK , 23 Jun 2008This is a beautiful rendering of Wuthering Heights and sort of follows the book but misses a lot out, making it rather disjointed. There are many passionate scenes between the 2 main players and I would have liked to see a more faithfull following to the book as Fiennes and Binoche make the best Heathcliffe and Kathy I have seen.
