Kenta Fukasaku (Yo-Yo Girl Cop, Battle Royale 2) follows in his famous fathers footsteps in this gloriously over the top Japanese horror-fest. Multiple points of view and time frames are the order of the day here as two girls take a journey they will never forget. The opening chapter sets the scene, all crazy villagers and creepy scarecrows. The second chapter cranks up the fear factor with the introduction of Reika, a crazed cross between Little Bo Peep and Freddy Krueger.
From here on in we are treated to brutal warfare with giant scissors and chainsaws, lunatic villagers and human sacrifice. Not to mention a few broken hearts and severed limbs.
It's what Japanese cinema is all about and Kenta Fukasaku has done is father proud.
