Ok best explain that i hated all the X-Men films. Yeah the first two were good films but as Xmen films they were terrible.

Why take the name of something that you have no intention of being faithful to? Why not make a superman film with Superman in it for 10 minutes then follow batman taking a holiday on Mars fighting Darth Vader. (ok a bit OTT)

But seriously these films have very little to do with the true Xmen. Then have the stupidity to ruin what characters they do involve.

This thrid film is the worst of them all, It destroys everything that was wrongly built up in the first two films then rushes through the film putting one set piece together with another! If you like Xmen AVOID THIS LIKE THE PLAGUE!!!!!

Less is errr less as it happens.

Having Brett Ratner replace Bryan Singer as director of the third movie in this franchise was never going to solve the problem that franchises like this generally have-namely that the third movie is usually the worst. So it is with X-Men : The Last Stand.

For a movie franchise revolving primarily around eye popping special effets laden action there is surprisingly little of it in this movie. The exposition heavy plot revolves around a cure for the mutant gene which some mutants view as a good thing , others including Magneto (Ian Mckellan) do not , while most including Prof Xavier ( Patrick Stewart) are,nt sure either way.

Meanwhile the mutant who we were led to beleive transformed at the end of the last movie-telekinetic Jean Grey (Famke Janssen)-returns as a grade 5 mutant Phoenix, which means she is more powerful than all the others .Worst of all she is really mad about something ( it,s to do with a suppressed part of her personality resurfacing apparantly)So she joins up with the bad guys and some of the more prominent personalities of the first two films perish along the way.

One of the scarce action scenes is ludicrous and is surely done just for it,s visual power, though it make no sense while others are quite stunning. The dialouge is hamfisted at times but the film never drags , the acting is above par for the most part and its all left tantalisingly open for a fourth.

I could,nt help thinking though would,nt it have been more efficient just to let Phoenix wipe out all the good guys as it,s made abundantly clear she is capable but then it would have been over way too quickly and film four would have been a non-starter. Logic in these type of films is never a real concern is it?
