Ok best explain that i hated all the X-Men films. Yeah the first two were good films but as Xmen films they were terrible.
Why take the name of something that you have no intention of being faithful to? Why not make a superman film with Superman in it for 10 minutes then follow batman taking a holiday on Mars fighting Darth Vader. (ok a bit OTT)
But seriously these films have very little to do with the true Xmen. Then have the stupidity to ruin what characters they do involve.
This thrid film is the worst of them all, It destroys everything that was wrongly built up in the first two films then rushes through the film putting one set piece together with another! If you like Xmen AVOID THIS LIKE THE PLAGUE!!!!!
I wasn't expecting too much from this after the panning it has taken from the critics. They were wrong one of the most enjoyable movies I've seen in a while and a worthy addition to the franchise.
The critics need to realise that missing the Malcolm X/Luthor King analogies from the first and the Homophobia metaphors of the second, doesn't mean it's a poor movie.
It's not perfect, The set piece Golden Gate Bridge stunt is both pointless and silly looking and the death of a major character barely registers. It's also on the short side for the scope of the story it's trying to tell.
However, It has a nice action packed, almost War film like, feel to it. Mayby I'm just a sucker for hoplessley outnumbered but standing their ground anyway type scenarios? But, this really worked for me and is the best super hero battle I seen filmed yet.
There was also plenty of references for people, like me, who know the comic. Wolverine's remark to the guy whose arms kept growing back, alone, was worth the ticket price.
Ignore the critics, they liked the English patient for pities sake.
EXCELLENT FILM AND A FITTING CONCLUSION OR IS IT????????????????? STAY TO THE END OF THE CREDITS
This movie has a rushed feel about it, characters where shoe-horned in to the movie with out adding too much to the plot and where killed off or disappeared almost as fast as they appeared.
It was as if the film makres decided as this was (more than likely) the last movie they would put as much in as possible, sadly however it just makes the end product look rather messy
I usually have nothing against people, but Brett 'Rush Hour' Ratner is one of those directors who simply isn't. He made a right pig's ear of the prequel to 'The Silence Of The Lambs' (i.e. 'Red Dragon') after Michael Mann's excellent 'Manhunter' and his 'kiss of death' infuses the final part to the X-Men trilogy. Bryan Singer (the guy who SHOULD have directed this) was elsewhere doing 'Superman Returns' and the studio should've waited until he was free. Apart from ONE action set piece, the film simply introduces new characters (for no good reason) and gets rid of established characters (again, for no reason). The previous two 'X-Men' movies were awesome and this one simply isn't. A sad end to the franchise... or is it?

I was looking forward to seeing this film, but was greatly disappointed. It was fun and the special effects were great, but the film lacked the moral conscience, the story, and the depth of character that the first two films offered. Many characters were underused and there was no fluidity between scenes. Ben Fosters' character was pointless to say the least. What could have been a great end to the X-men series turned out to tarnish the whole trilogy.
To see the 3rd installment you HAVE to have seen the first 2 episodes, but it is better if you have never read the books or even watched the cartoons as several unneccesary and unwelcome changes have been made to the characters pasts that will disappoint life long X-Men fans like myself tremendously. For those who enjoyed the first 2 films there will still be a certain amount of disappointment because the 3rd is not nearly as well directed, entertaining or coherent. The fight scenes which promise to be the most spectacular ever are very poor - I have played rougher games of British Bulldog at school than the supposed war of mutants finale. Humour (mainly supplied by Wolverine in the first 2 films) is completely absent. New chracaters are 1 dimensional and old characters do not develop. All in all it takes itself far too seriously for no real reason. That said it is quite pacey and although you will probably be left unsatisfied at the end the time passes quickly enough. NOW SOME SPOILERS **** Characters are killed off in huge numbers - why? Who miscast that idiot Vinnie Jones? Why have they tampered with the origins and/or development of mutants such as Juggernaut, Phoenix and Mystique? Why does Magneto not eradicate Wolverine at the start of the final battle as he does any other time he sees him? Why move a bridge when you can move a metal boat? Etc etc etc....
All this movie really shares with its excellent forebares is the fantastic cast, unfortunately everthing else about it is just the so-so production values we used to associate with a cash in sequel.
Brett Ratner is just not that great of a director, he has no idea how to handle a large bunch of characters in an ensemble action flick so everyone just gets kinda lost under his gaze.
The script has become blunt and unsubtle with a plot that I'm sure has some fanboy howlers in it. Wasn't there meant to be some alien presence?
The effects are vast and extensive but often look technicallly poor to mediocre with many looking like they hit the release date before they were finished, ala the 'Mummy returns'.
All in all it's just a lesser movie and an unworthy sequel, moderately entertaining but nothing more.
I have to say I had hoped for an explosive finale, in this 3rd installment to the Xmen Trilogy. I have to say I am a little disappointed. To me this seemed to build slowly to a fairly unrewarding end. Although not dissimilar to X1 and 2 the feel of this felt rushed. New characters seen in the comics/cartoons were underused and showed off little of there skills too infrequently. Other new characters had very convenient skills, to fit in to the plot, using there skills once often in a perfect situatuion to suit there special power. The juggernaught (awesome in the cartoon and comics) was played by the badly cast Vinnie Jones. Despite looking the part, had his frequent bad one liners fall flat and showed no menace. The plot was uninspring and despite the talk of a climatic war to end all wars...only really results in a battle between Magneto and his chronies and whats left of the X-men...with a load of extras running around in the background showing too few sings of mutant powers. Not the grand battle I had envisaged. Ian Mckellen as Magneto does his best here to add a touch of class, but it's wasted amongst the poor support cast.. The whole thing really could have been better. Just one amazing fight scene could have improved this film so much (like the opening scene to X2)but it really offers nothing new.
Don't get me wrong i think rush hour was an accomplished buddy movie, but to have him direct X3 was desperate and clearly does not grasp what a superhero film is about.
Beyond the action and special effects it is a story about elements of humanity; with an ongoing theme of redemption, and that should have been the story of phoenix, hence the bloody name.
I came out of this film depressed, because there was nothing in it, it was shallow and had nothing to say, and had left all that had been built up in the previous two films. It's small redeeming factor is wolverine who rocked, and i look forward to the spin off.
My parting thought is all is forgiven Mr Singer as long as superman returns is everything it should be
6 months I have waited to watch this movie simply due to the fact that all I read was negative, so imagine my surprise that x-men 3 turned out to be an absolute gem of a movie. The final instalment of a fantastic trilogy delivers emotion, action and leaves you with a real feel good factor that youve just seen a really good movie.
My advice is see this movie and prepare to be pleasantly surprised
After the first two x-men films i was very much looking forward to this third installment however, it is unbelieveably bad. quite how they decided upon this story and the actors that join the cast is beyond me. why they kill off the characters they do is bizarre. quite how they are ever going to do anymore sequels is a complete mystery and based on this i hope they never do.
