James Bond can rest easy. Vin Diesel cements his action-star status as a new breed of secret agent, but, in every other respect, this junk Bond from director Rob Cohen is just pure, turbo-driven exploitation — dumb, fun and full of elaborate computer-generated stunts. Diesel plays extreme-sports hero Xander Cage, coerced by US government agent Samuel L Jackson into infiltrating the Prague-based Anarchy 99 terrorist organisation. Bond parallels abound: Jackson is a scarred clone of M; Marton Csokas the Blofeld-style megalomaniac; Michael Roof a gadget-guru in the Q mould; and Italian sensation Asia Argento is the girl, with little to do but switch romantic allegiance from villain to hero. Diesel doesn't have Pierce Brosnan's deft control of a one-liner and overall the film lacks wit — as well as consistent plotting — but the stunts are overblown and outrageous enough to produce sheer adrenalin-pumping excitement.
Not so much a movie as a probably successful attempt to create a new franchise to rival James Bond, substituting a thuggish hero in keeping with the times but otherwise adhering to the same formula of beautiful, disposable women, mad scientists and specta

The movie was scripted by a ten year old and directed by a pyromaniac. Overindulgent and childish, not even close to making sense.
Usually when a film in the states takes a 100 million + you can be fairly sure it's gonna be worth a watch. I honestly cannot understand how this film made anything. Vin Diesel is cool but the set-piece action is second rate, the plot is rubbish and the final denoument has got to be one of the worst in action film history. Seriously do not bother
Van Diesel is ultra cool in this highly charged action packed film, i would say this is one of the best action movies i have ever seen in recent year. The film minimise the useage of computer in many of the stunt scences since they recruited many of the best person in the world to do the job. The result is breath-taking and makes you wonder that how can 'human' achieve those stunts?! Check it out in the dvd special features, the shooting process is well recorded there (include many of the stunt scences).
like most of these movies it lacks in plot and story. But this is not why I watch them. Its a good 'sit back and let it wash over you' film. good action, good filming, nice effects.
this film, xxx, i thoroughly enjoy watching, i have seen it many times before and if you like cars, stunts, gadgets and gizmos its a must see. stars vin diesel as xander (zan-da) cage. brilliant. hit the 'ADD' button now. i recomend you do so

Don't even bother with a poor plotline a stunt double who look like more like Mini me that Van it just turns into a Xtremely bad film.
Just didn't work.
I thought Vin Diesel was great in his early days - his characters were edgey and cool. Oh how his fame has gone to his head. Samuel L Jackson is the biggest letdown - I'm not even sure why he thought this film was a good idea - the plot is a typical spy adventure similar to James Bond US-stylie. The special effects are relied upon a little too much and as a result are over the top and way too frequent. Glad I watched it but only so I can join in on the conversations on how bad it actually was!
This movie should have been called zzz. If you suffer from insomnia you should be nodding off in no time at all.
What is wrong with you people? This is a great film; action, action, action from beginning to end. Enjoy it for what it is, a bit of light-hearted, macho entertainment.

This is a criminal version of James Bond, but where did they get the action idea's, these are sensational.
There had to be a down side, the plot was a bit silly and the one lines a bit corney but overall I enjoyed it.
007 would have been proud and wished he could do what xXx could do.
I always wanted to see what this film was about and kept hearing a lot of mixed reviews so I stuck it on my rental list to make my own mind up. I like Vin Diesel's films and think he's quite good in all his roles and he actually pulls off this one quite well too.
As action films go its a very similar affair and some aspects of the film are VERY tongue in cheek!!!
I suppose its a love it or hate it kind of film and I suppose I love it more than hate it. Worth watching!
