Perhaps more 'maybe' than yes. This is an unconventional love story not only because the words are spoken in rhyme but because the two lovers are from different ends of the spectrum - she being American, he Lebanonese. After the initial attractiveness the cracks begin to appear for obvious reasons. The ending however is beautifully resolved. Sally Potter has made a modern day love story and brought out some fine performances by Joan Allen and Simon Abkarian. At time it does border on the pretentious but the film is short and almost musical in the delivery of the dialogue. Good stuff.
