Heightened security fears close UK embassy

The British Embassy in Syria has been closed to the public for a week due to security concerns. The Foreign Office said the overseas mission in Damascus had been closed to the public from February 10th. A Foreign Office spokesman said: "The embassy is still operating, it is just not open to the public." The spokesman declined to give details on when it would be fully reopened.
