Zack and Miri Make a Porno Details

Wow.

This is very probably the funniest film I have even seen.

I went with a group of eight or so friends, and not one of us found any flaw in this film at all. It is literally a perfect film. Not only is it hilariously funny, there are sweet moments, there are dramatic moments, this could be a perfect film.

Seriously, honestly, this film made me struggle not to wet my pants. It was amazing. I cannot even convey in words how freakin' funny it is, just go see it. Twice.

"..I TELL YOU!!.."

I had slight reservations on this movie as it was stepping out of the 'View Askewniverse' and therefore being a Kevin Smith comedy outside the box (ahem!). Regardless, I was more than a little curious when I heard the title, 'whats he gonna show? who we seein' naked?, is he bringin back the Clerks 2 donkey?', you know, the usual hard-hittin questions any reviewer would wanna know. But lets step aside the porn thing for a bit an get to the actual story (yes folks its porn with a story!!). The arc of the movie is pretty simplistic though I wont give anything away. Basically Zack and Miri are two broke loser friends that have known each other since high school and still live together. When they cant sort the money out to pay for heat, water or electric, Zack decides to change things and the fastest way to do that is make a Porno...with sexy results - Kidding! Sorry, that Homer Simpson line just popped in my head.

I saw Pineapple Express reluctantly a few months ago and laughed my ass off - Great show! Since that i've become to like what Seth Rogen is doing. He's a fresh face in comedy at the minute and its very welcome folks to be honest. There's only so much Ben Stiller we can be subjected to after all. Must give an honorable mention to Craig Robinson (Delaney) too. Again I first saw him in Pineapple Express and he's one of those scene stealer guys (like Terry Crews), and again what he's doing in comedy movies is fresh and damn right hilarious. One to watch this guy.

Kevin Smith has (Christ can I say this?) matured in his approach to making movies. Oh dont worry guys the dialogue hasnt changed, he still has dick and fart jokes! Its just that he seems to have mastered the proper pacing in his movies now. Where things should be fun - they are, where things should be heartfelt - they are. The mix of humour, heart and story run along perfectly in 'Zack and Miri' and all is accompanied by a great soundtrack. Loved the use of Primus' 'Winonas Big Brown Beaver' to kick the movie off.

Smith has proved he can put out material outside of his Jersey faithful here (yes I know Mewes and Anderson are present)and still be both hilarious and entertaining. Dunno if Kevin would want to hear this or what Oscar expections he may have for his future endeavours but this right here is his bread and butter. Its where he shines and we love him for it. Now I dont know about you guys, but i'm off to try out this 'Dutch Rudder'! (You'll see!)
