  • Echoes of Werner Hertzog

This is not a proper Bollywood movie, it explores some dark themes without the usual song and dance. The movie explores similar topics previously done by Werner Hertzog - it is however done successfully without cliches and the final plot is well executed. I enjoyed both John Abraham and Sanjay Dutt's characters but sympathised more with Abraham's character. A good movie.

  • Old Boy again

It is a scary movie and the acting was ok . However I would prefer John Abraham in other roles. Sanjay Dutt is always good at good boy gone bad and taking revenge though.

It would have been better if I had not known it was taken form the film Old Boy as it is not a typical Indian film is it?

Indian version of a Korean Film called 'Old Boy.

Not a bad remake, but for me Old Boy is a better film.

THIS REVIEW CONTAINS SPOILERS Show review anywayHide

Initially one would think the macabre premise of 'Oldboy' would have shone through well in this indian remake... Wrong!

The lack of gory violence, the lack of madness in the protagonists' tongues and grief striking ingenuity that was the original put this flick on just another pile of bad remakes by Bollywood.

The director did well with the camera angles etc. But a detriment may have been lack of understanding of the story and motivation.

Dutts and Abrahams combination was above par to say the least however there were times when you wonder where is the fourteen years of anger and frustration in Dutts acting? Or where is the layer of insanity that should have been beneath the character Abraham was Portraying?...

Finally the Screenwriting was where this flick failed its major hurdle, they left out the 'fruits' of the story, the amazing twist which seals the movie leaving watchers in awe. All in all, go and see the Original Korean version 'Oldboy', It should leave your mind tingling whereas 'Zinda' may not...
