Finally, Jean Rollin's infamous no-budget zombie 'epic' has arrived on shiny DVD to thrill a new generation of fans too young to remember the heady days of bulky boxed betamax....directed by jack of all trades Rollin under the pseudonym 'J.A. Lazer'and starring the frighteningly ferret like Howard Vernon, Zombie Lake makes up for what it lacks in budget, plot, effects, editing, coherent storytelling etc. with lots of long, lingering nude scenes not found in the original UK print and scenes of such mind numbing bizarreness that you'll be flicking back to make sure you really did see them....experience the crew forgetting to turn the lights on till halfway through a scene! recoil in horror as Nazi zombies in green emulsion stomp about in a swimming pool! swoon as ace reporter Annouchka sits in the pub with a sweating moustached man! go open another bag of crisps as the unnecessary love story subplot unfolds in bum numbing detail! Strain your ears trying to decypher the almost Lynchian dialogue! Get slightly uncomfortable as you enjoy the fun and frolicks of the semi-nude female volleyball teams antics unfold to a cheesy 'europorn' score and much more! Essential Friday night viewing for fans of Eurotrash horror, anyone who thinks they've already seen the worst movie ever or those who really enjoyed 'Bloody Moon'. Sheer genius.

For fans of awful films only. As a movie it deserves perhaps half a star. As entertainment perhaps four and a half. I'll meet in the middle and give it 3. Shoddy and amateur with a nonsense plot - but so bad it is very funny. Enjoy it with a drink or three...

Having read 'Ash from Glasgow''s review of this film, I had to see it! I was not disappointed!! This film gives 'Plan 9 From Outer Space' a run for its money - it is SO appalingly bad in terms of inept directing, 'Thunderbirds' style acting, non-existent special effects, bizarre dubbing and totally gratuitous female nudity that it is a hoot to watch! Having been totally disappointed watching 'Moulin Rouge', I wanted to end the evening with a good belly laugh and I certainly got that; indeed, I almost wet the sofa laughing!! For lovers of eurotrashy horror movies, this is MUST SEE!! Five star movie - no question...

  • The Best Zombie Movie I have Ever Seen!!!!!!!!!!!

I just found the movie funny, in everway the actors are hilarious and the director can even be seen in some of the scences in the mirror by accident. It is everthing you want from the old day Zombie Movies, it has to go down in the books of films you have seen.

Now I like my low budget Zombie films like the rest of them. However, this is particularly dire. Nice idea but terribly executed while the green make up just looked ridiculous. Stick to Romero, Jackson and Fulci for zombie action.
