After the brilliant Adventureland, Jesse Eisenberg stars in Zombieland, a perfectly diverting if rather forgettable postmodern zombie flick. The zombie element of the film is played for laughs and as such, is closer to Shaun of the Dead, rather than Danny Boyles superior 28 Days Later. As its a postmodern flick, there are constant references to zombie film conventions and rules that must be obeyed, all played out whilst under the pretence of a buddy/road movie. However, the real point of Zombieland is to show a load of half dead people getting done over in a variety of ways with various weapons, which unfortunately isnt very interesting. Despite a sprinkling of romance, a few laughs and an ongoing hunt for Twinkies (whatever they are), this film seems rather empty. Woody Harrelson and Bill Murray liven it up a bit, but overall its not funny or scary enough to remain memorable.
