Arthouse Graphic Novel -- great!
By Rowena Hoseason from Bude, Kernow , 26 Jun 2006[Highly rated reviewer]
Don't normally bother to post reviews, but feel that this film is getting a pasting, perhaps because its summary is misleading. It may not be to all tastes, but it is a very watchable and enjoyable film, with a compelling message about the nature of humanity and what immortality actually is.
If you enjoyed movies like Run Lola Run, Celine et Julie, Bladerunner, Final Fantasy, the Matrix anime series, or the Fifth Element... well, this is some weird kind of hybrid of the lot of them. It's at the high end of comicbook (or 'graphic novel' if you must) art, brought to life with a few carefully chosen actors and then stylised (deliberately so) animation. The use of cgi allows the director to realise things which just ain't possible in real life -- the gods Bast, Horus and Anubis are particularly interesting.
But the result is a continental film, not a Hollywood one. So if you want blockbuster, then try elsewhere!- Was this review helpful to you?

(154)Experimental Metal Hurlant
By Lugodoc (102 reviews) from Portsmouth, UK , 06 Apr 2013If you are a fan of the old European high concept sexy sci-fi magazine Heavy Metal then you have got to watch this. Created by HM regular Enki Bilal and exploring many of his favourite themes (whilst not actually bothering to explain any of them) it looks like one of his crazier graphic novels brought beautifully to life with megatons of cutting edge CGI. After watching it 3 times the plot actually started to make a bit of sense, but always beautiful to watch.- Was this review helpful to you?

Very deep meaning which only the most senior monks can spot
By thepresidentofunitedstates (50 reviews) , 01 Feb 2013There is an extremely deep meaning to this movie that ties the current and future real world to the world of the Egyptians- Was this review helpful to you?

Love or Hate?
By KingHenry (16 reviews) , 31 Oct 2012You will either love or hate 'Immortal'. It is quite cleverly constructed but the plot is rather obtuse.
I recommend that you try it, but do not give up after the first five minutes (I nearly did). It makes more sense if you watch the whole thing.- Was this review helpful to you?
