People like you should be banned from writing reviews.

As for the game. The gameplay is pretty awesome and fun but after a few levels it can get quite repetitive. I have to say that there is a lot of gore as you can pretty much cut anyone up in any direction meaning bits of fingers are flying all over the place. There are also focus attacks in which time slows down and you are able to do some sweet moves, like reflect bullets back at enemies. It's also quite short, you'd probably finish the game in about 6 hours.

All in all I'd say its deffo worth the rent because it did get quite stale for me after a few levels but I just left it for the next day and wanted to play again.

  • Well Written & Acted, but poor Gameplay

This is written as an alternate reality with similar elements to the Anime/Manga.

Samuel L Jackson, the RZA and the rest of the team associated with creating the hit Anime are involved with this. and the art and flow of the game feels mostly like you are inside their world.

Sam Jackson returns as the medium-aware Ninja-Ninja, taking the rise out of both Afro, and you, the player (at one point wanting to know if you are just bashing buttons!), he's without a doubt the highlight of the game.

Sadly, the actual gameplay outside of certain story-based fights, feels too similar to a hundred and one third person action games. There are also some serious issues with the Camera, which seems to do the opposite to what you want to with what little camera control you do have.

It would have been a much better game if it did not feel like they bolted it to a very poor clone of Devil May Cry.

  • Afro Samurai - Bad Hair Bad Game

Very poor Hack N Slash Game based on a manga cartoon (which ive never seen)

so i guess this game might have been more fun if i knew the subject.

    but as it is ....

    Good points

    - Nice cell shaded graphics

    Bad points

    - very poor camera angles.

    - mindless button bash combos with little or no skill involved

    - endless enemies the all look the same with dumb as hell A.I

    - Levels that have little to do with each other with little story and no flow

    - Trial and error boss battles.

    - Samuel L Jackson voicing a support Character and F - bombing constantly

If you want to play hack N slash This should be last on your list.

    i recommend

    darksiders

    Ninja gaiden 2

    bayonetta

    dantes inferno

    ninja blade

all these are so much better than this rubbish

Iv watched the anime and resurrection so i am fan of afro samurai and i hoped to play the 360 game. This game is a typical hack-an-slash game with allot of good music played through-out the game that just brings it too life for me! with some awesome slow-mo game play and blood and gore! This game had allot of potential but o-well, for example theres like 5 character models for every bad guy in the game, exclusion bosses which are limited also with some being almost impossible! For example one boss expects you to bullet deflect a RPG and it never told you to do so! so spending 20 mins dodging before giving up then googling my problem. The combos are easy with a full list and some being pretty cool. The achievements are simple with some them down to luck. 200g is playing the game twice, second being on a hard difficulty! I say play this game! give it a go for the whole hack-an-slash genre and all you afro samurai fans out there! peace!

  • Good Enough

Not really a big fan of the hack n Slash genre nowadays. Devil May Cry is the exception, possibly bayonetta also once i play it :]. I played this game for about 8 hours before becoming bored with it, and that was due to me being stuck at a boss battle with no idea what to do, and no patience to figure it out :) Afro seems a little underpowered. His bullet time slashe's are quite effective, but standard slashing gameplay takes around 10+ Hit's just to down one enemy.

When afro's 'Bullet time' mechanic kicks in, it gives you more control over your sword, meaning you can choose specific parts to hack off from your foe's, be is heads, legs, or fingers :)

All in all, a decent rent. Kept me distracted for a few hours, and relieved some stress.

    3.5 / 5
